Bakers and small businesses are activating across the country in a sweet act of resistance.
100% of funds raised from these bake sales will be donated to vetted, 501(c)(3) nonprofits that support immigrant rights. The specifics of those donation recipients vary locally from host to host, so you can learn more about where those proceeds are going from the local event organizers.
Because we want frosting not fascists.
What Is This?
Ice Cakes Not People is a grassroots community bake sale led by bakers and small businesses across the country.
This is your landing page to learn about where these bake sales are happening, how to host your own, or which vetted organizations you can give back to if there isn't a bake sale in your area.
How did it start?
I'm Amy Larson — I own a store called Matriarch in Newport, RI and started hosting community bake sales at my store last year. In 2025, I hosted 3 bake sales and raised over $10,000 for causes like Planned Parenthood and local food banks.
The intention of this particular bake sale initiative is to raise money for marginalized communities during a time of high need. I launched the initiative at my store, Matriarch, and when I heard that others across the country wanted to host their own bake sales, I created this page to let the bakers in.
Over the years, I have been personally inspired by the bake sale movements that Paola Velez of Bakers Against Racism, and Natasha Pickowicz of the Planned Parenthood bake sales created.
No effort is too small. Every dollar counts. ✽
